The Lucien Barrière Group prepares to launch its virtual casinos

The Lucien Barrière Group, the leading French casino operator, has applied to the public authorities to request the authorisation of casinos on the Net and is preparing to launch a website in 2008.

The Group’s chief executive is counting on discussions between France and Brussels about the liberalisation of competition in the sports betting sector in order to pave the way for the emergence of a legal framework for virtual casinos in France !

The aim for Barrière is to find new sources of growth because the offline casinos sector has been in a slump for the past few years. The gaming industry has been held back by several unfavourable factors relating to regulations.

The group believes that the development of a legal range of online gaming activities would stimulate the emergence of a new clientele for its real casinos.
