The WSOP exhibition in Las Vegas will host the “Man versus Machine” tournament in July

During the “Gaming Life Expo” at the Las Vegas Rio hotel, two online poker professionals from Stoxpoker will attempt to beat a computer program developed by researchers from the University of Alberta in a Limit Hold’em tournament to be held between 4 and 6 July 2008.

Nick Grudzien, one of the two players that will attempt to beat the program, is a co-founder of the online poker training site Stoxpoker. The other player has not yet been chosen.

The researchers from the University of Alberta in Canada - creators of a computer program called Polaris - harbour the dream that one day a computer chip will become a grand champion!

According to the researchers, their program has the ability to adapt to its opponents’ play and exploit their weaknesses.
