PokerStars has finally been granted permission to launch its Italian website. The AAMS (Amministrazione Autonoma dei Monopoli di Stato) - the authority responsible for online gaming in Italy - has finally granted a licence to the poker room. PokerStars can now legally operate in Italy.
This is a major achievement for PokerStars, as the Italian market represents 500,000 players and several hundred million euros in profits.
The opening of the Italian online poker market will offer PokerStars, which is already one of the biggest online poker rooms, new opportunities to extend its influence in the industry.
Thanks to this agreement, the management hopes that other European countries will follow in Italy’s footsteps. Italian players can now participate in dedicated tournaments on PokerStars, with buy-ins ranging from 0.5 to 100 euros.
