In spite of the strict anti-gaming laws in China, World Poker Tour Enterprises (WPTE) has announced that it has signed an agreement with the Chinese Leisure and Sports Administration Centre (CLSA).
The partnership agreement between the Chinese authorities and the World Poker Tour was signed in Beijing for a period of five years with an option for extension and a commitment to invest a total of 3 million dollars.
The agreement, negotiated with the Chinese State Agency, will allow the WPT to promote poker and create the first poker tournament in China.
Conquering the Chinese market will be a challenge because the communist government outlaws all forms of betting, placing it on the same level as offences of criminal and antisocial behaviour.
