The 2008 Norwegian Poker Championships moves to the United Kingdom

The 2008 edition of the Norwegian Poker Championship (NPC) will be held at the Dusk Till Dawn club in Nottingham, England from 28 April to 5 May, due to the Norwegian government’s ban on organising Poker tournament’s anywhere in the country.

Poker was placed under strict surveillance in the Scandinavian countries last year. This is because poker is considered to be a gaming activity that encourages addiction and, as such, it is banned in Norway.

For its seventh anniversary, the Norwegian Poker Championship will consist of around ten tournaments with entry fees ranging between £100 and £500. The tournaments will be played in “No limit” and “Fixed limit” versions of Hold’em.

The online gaming company expekt.com and Airfare will be organising the event on behalf of Norwegian professional poker players. Around 500 players are expected to attend these championships.

The winner will be crowned national champion and will be awarded a full package to the next World Series of Poker.
