Charles Nesson, a professor of Law at Harvard University, is encouraging the introduction of poker into universities and high schools and has announced the creation of an association entitled the “Global Poker Strategic Thinking Society”.
This organisation considers poker to be a game of skill whose theory could help students to improve how they express themselves in public. Speaking about poker strategy in the Harvard newspaper, the professor added that “Poker is one of the best metaphors for teaching about life skills in a cross-disciplinary fashion”.
Professor Charles Nesson is a specialist in cyberspace legislation and is the co-author of a conference on the virtual world Second Life. He proposes to organise workshops and intellectual seminars for high schools and associations in which poker can be used as a way to improve the development of strategies and provide support for people experiencing social difficulties.
