Online gaming on mobile phones: Nokia delays the launch of “N-gage”

Due to delays caused by problems encountered during the testing of its software, Nokia has again had to postpone the launch of its online gaming platform “N-gage”, which was scheduled for last month but only finally marketed at the start of 2008.

Initially planned for August 2007, Nokia had pencilled in the worldwide launch of “N-gage” for November before postponing it until December. This represents another setback for the world’s leading mobile phone manufacturer’s internet development strategy.

Along with its music platform and mapping activities, online gaming services via mobile internet represents one of the key digital sectors of the future in which the Finnish manufacturer plans to play a major role via its new “Ovi” portal.
