Everest Poker has become a well-known online poker room, especially in Britain. This poker room’s rapid expansion can be attributed to its policy of offering welcome bonuses to new players. It is currently ranked the world’s 6th biggest poker room in terms of its number of players – a position that it has earned in just a few years.
Readers may remember that Everest Poker sponsored the World Series of Poker – the world’s biggest poker championships, in 2007 and 2008.
Everest is owned by Gigamedia Limited, a company based in Taiwan and listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange under the name GIGM.
GIGM boasted 370 billion dollars of market capitalisation at the start of 2009, and does not expect this figure to fall.
As might be expected of such a booming company, Gigamedia has decided to branch out into online betting with the opening of EverestBets in December 2008.
Gigamedia has joined forces on this occasion with Victor Chandler, one of the heavyweights of online gaming and a pioneering UK betting company founded in 1946!
This alliance has led to the creation of EverestBets.com. This site now offers the opportunity to bet on football, rugby, basketball, American football and horse racing. The range of possible bets on offer should increase very quickly.
This partnership goes hand-in-hand with the online betting boom that we have been witnessing over the past few months. The other major poker sites, such as Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars, despite their impressive expansion in the poker field, are lagging behind in comparison, as they have not planned any definite projects in this area for the moment.
