Barrière creates an online gaming site in India

The casino operator Lucien Barrière is anticipating the coming liberalisation of internet casinos by subcontracting the development of its online 3-D gaming site in India.

Indeed, several dozen engineers are currently working on the project and the site will benefit from a gaming licence obtained in Malta.

For the moment, the Française des Jeux (the French State’s sports betting monopoly) and the PMU (French national horse racing betting agency) still have a de facto monopoly of gambling and games of chance in France. Because of this, the Barrière site will be non-profit-making in France.

However, the European Commission’s indictments of the French authorities are becoming more and more vociferous, which gives hope to the Barrière group.
