Betfair signed a sponsoring contract with the football club FC Barcelona in August 2009. The contract with the Blaugranas is for 2 or 3 years and amounts to 1 to 2 million Euros each year.

Betfail will anyway not appear on the jerseys of Barca with this sponsoring contract. Barcelona displays traditionally no sponsors on its jerseys. The contract relates to the right of Betfair to make use of the image of Barca to its own purposes. Betfair rejoins Estrella Damm, Audi, La Caixa and Telefonica among the sponsors of Barcelona.

Recently Betfair signed also a contract with the most popular football club of England, Manchester United. The contract is for 3 seasons. Betfair has launched the “Betfair Goal Challenge”: each time when Wayne Rooney, Michael Owen and Dimitar Berbatov score for MU, Betfair transfers 1 000£ (1 100€) to the Manchester United Foundation.
